Who I Am

Nadia Fayidh Mohammed

They ask me, who I am?
how I identify myself?
the questions were not easy to answer;
my brain goes blind…
I tried “Iraqi”,
after all it is in the id-card;
they asked, “what do you mean?
which Iraqi you are?”
I tried “Shiite”,
a turban man laughed hard!
I tried “a woman”,
they rolled their eyes,
I tried “human”,
they asked, what is that?
