Robbie Burton

Light of the World

Wearing Lizzie’s curls
and Christina’s face
Christ stands knocking
at a handleless door.

His beard and collar hide
Christina’s lack of Adam’s apple.

Depicted like this
in the church’s east window
Christ is formed
from many differences.

His robe appears yellow
and his hand orange
as day transitions to night.

Unsmiling, he seems
to look me in the eye.

I’m not afraid.

I like his hair.
